Final Project
General Requirements:
• Your piece should be 3-5 minutes in duration. All styles are allowed, but the piece must be detailed and crafted. Longer durations are possible but need my approval.
• Your piece should can be based on either assignment 2 or assignment 3, or can be entirely new.
Technical Requirements:
• Your piece must be in 4 channels (i.e., quadraphonic).
Two tips:
1) Avoid using the middle position with the surround panner. This simply spreads the sound evenly to all speakers and makes it louder, but not more spatial sounding, and listeners sitting close to a speaker won't hear the sound coming from the other speakers.
2) Avoid placing a sound statically between two speakers, for the same reasons as tip 1).
• You must use automation (any parameter) and basic editing (slicing + moving).
• You must use filtering.
• You may use sounds from the internet, but make sure you have the right to use them, and these should be high quality (i.e., no low resolution MP3s).
Grading:
Style, overall form, and musical gestures: 50%
Technical proficiency (i.e., including of the above mentioned requirements): 50%
Worth 45% of final grade.
